Haber Delighted To Be Back In The Goals

23 October 2014

Canada International pleased that his winning spot-kick seals third straight win

Marcus Haber was delighted to get back on the score-sheet against Peterborough United on Tuesday evening, but he was even more pleased that his match winning penalty sealed another three points for Crewe Alexandra.

The forward took responsibility from the penalty spot after Adam Dugdale had been impeded at the far post as he tried to reach a corner. Haber took the ball and dispatched his penalty past Peterborough’s Michael Smith to score his fourth goal of the season and his first since late August.

It was a huge victory for the team. We’ve been slowly improving over recent matches and Tuesday was an extreme team effort and it took every one of us on the pitch to get the result and we’re overjoyed. Haber told Crewe Alex Player: “

“Going away for ten or so days I wasn’t expecting to be thrown back in the side straight away, so I had to be patient and try to take my chance when it came. When the penalty came I was confident, I haven’t scored in a few games so I thought it was a good chance to get on the score sheet and luckily it went it.

He added: “As a striker I think if you don’t strive for taking penalties there’s a problem. It was a good chance to get a goal and I was confident, tried to put it in the corner and fortunately it went in.”
