Guthers: "Lads Wants To End Frustration"

8 October 2015

Jon Guthrie says the dressing room is determined to get that win for the supporters.

Defender Jon Guthrie is hoping that the Alex dressing room can overcome the ‘frustration’ of losing five on the bounce at home and use our recent away form to get us back on track. The Alex went into three recent home matches against Southend, Chesterfield and Wigan in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on the back of really encouraging results at Shrewsbury and Walsall and Guthrie admits the players have been left scratching their heads over their home form.

Jon told the club’s official web-site: “It has been really frustrating and the boys were gutted in the dressing room after the Wigan game because we had played reasonably well and had gone in at half-time 2-1 up, so to end up losing was frustrating to say the least.

“We haven’t been able to produce that complete 90 minute performance and we are not sure why that is happening. We are working as hard as we possibly can every day and all we can do is keep putting that effort in out on the training ground and in the games.

“The fans have been great with us and we want to get that win for them. We want to give themselves something to cheer about and that is why we were disappointed to have led that half-time lead slip away on Tuesday night.

“We are a close knit squad and will stick together. We go into every game with a positive frame of mind and we always look to win. Hopefully that will turn around for us at Barnsley this weekend.

Guthrie added: “We came into our three home games with four points from two away games and we didn’t build on that. We have done well away at home recently, getting that win at Shrewsbury and coming back at Walsall to get a point, so we have to look to continue that at Barnsley if we can.”
