Grant Signs Two-Year Deal

15 July 2013

Anthony Grant joins following mutual release from Stevenage

Crewe Alexandra is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Anthony Grant on a two-year-deal from Stevenage. The 26-year-old has joined Crewe Alexandra after mutually agreeing to leave Stevenage this summer.

Grant began his career with Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and made one appearance under Jose Mourinho before moving out on loan in to the Football League.

The tenacious midfielder had spells with Oldham, Wycombe and Southend before making a permanent move to Roots Hall in the summer of 2008. Grant spent four years with the Shrimpers making over 150 appearances and scoring ten goals.

One of them goals came in a 4-3 win for Southend over the Railwaymen at Gresty Road back in September 2008. Grant also lined up in both of the Play-Off Semi Finals with Southend during the 2011/12 season.

Following that year, Grant moved in to League One with Stevenage and was a regular for 'Boro during last term.  He appeared twice against the Alex once again, and obviously impressed boss Steve Davis who following the departure of Luke Murphy, quickly swooped to sign the experienced midfielder.
