Good To Have That Local Connection

Steve Davis pleased to keep relationships going in pre-season

Crewe Alexandra continue their pre-season build-up with another double header against Leek on Friday and Chester on Saturday. The Alex have scored four goals in both friendly games against Norton and Nantwich and Steve Davis is pleased that our connection with local clubs continues.

A really healthy crowd of 1,224 attended Sunday’s friendly at the Weaver Stadium and Davis was pleased that the local community came together to support the two teams in the area.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It was a good day at Nantwich and we always enjoy going there. I learned a great deal as manager whilst I was there and it is always nice for me to bring a Crewe team back because I am thankful for what they did for my career.

“It is good to have that relationship with the local clubs. We help them financially and our fans don’t have to travel too far. It is good and we are keen to keep it going. They look after us and we can only thank them.

“It was good for our fans to travel to Nantwich and see some of our young players and some ex-Crewe players such as Steve Phillips, Andy White, Harry Clayton, Steve Jones and Mat Bailey.

“Nantwich also give a go with their young players and you never know if they could help us out in the future with that.”
