Steve Davis says Gary Johnson will have Yeovil challenging for a return to the Championship

Steve Davis fully expects Yeovil Town to be competing for promotion once they adjust to life back in League One. Glovers boss Gary Johnson revamped his squad following relegation from the Skybet Championship by making ten new signings, including our former Academy graduate AJ Leitch-Smith on a free transfer.

The Alex boss believes that once those new players fully integrate, Yeovil will be contesting at the right end of the League One table.

Ahead of tonight’s game at Huish Park, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Gary is an ambitious manager and the club will be looking to get back into the Championship. They would have enjoyed that experience and they were a bit unfortunate to be relegated.

“I thought they gave a good account of themselves at that level and had some great results.

“When clubs come down from the Championship it does take them a bit of time to adjust to the league again. Gary has bought in a number of new players and that takes a bit of time.

He added: “Clubs who come down find it very challenging initially but Gary is a very experienced manager and I’m sure he will expecting to be challenging for a top six place once again. He will have that hunger to get back to the Championship and that will rub off on his players.”
