Steve Davis happy to assess young Derby goalkeeper over the next month

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that signing young goalkeeper Ross Etheridge on a one-month loan deal with allow the club time to assess his potential. The 20-year-old has joined us on loan from Derby County to offer cover and competition to number one Ben Garratt.

With Uche Ikpeazu returning to Watford yesterday, Crewe are now back down to five loan players so Etheridge can now sit on the substitutes bench for this weekend’s visit of MK Dons.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have signed Ross on loan for a month to allow us to have a longer look at him. He is still Derby’s player but he could be one for the future.

“We will have a look at him in the Under-21s and in training and he will offer that cover to Ben. We will have a better opportunity to assess him with us here for a month and it is a win-win situation for us.”
