Environment Suited Ikpeazu

Alex boss says Uche would have continued to blossom and improve with us

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that continuing his development at Crewe Alexandra was the perfect environment for teenager Uche Ikpeazu to improve.

Ikpeazu has surprisingly been recalled by Watford just a day of after agreeing to extend his loan spell with us until the end of the season. It is believed he will be allowed to go out elsewhere in the Football League, but Davis feels that the powerful forward would have only continued to blossom by playing regularly for Crewe’s first team.

The Crewe Alexandra boss firmly believes that the 19-year-old was settled in South Cheshire and was happy to be playing first team football.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We are able to get players like Uche because we make them feel welcome. We help them as much as we can both on and off the pitch and I believe we were helping him become a better player.

“That is what we can offer them. We work with them. We coach them and give them that one-on-one attention. We have are reputation for improving young players and try to help them.

“I think this was the perfect environment for Uche but like I’ve said before we don’t have control over players that are not our own.”
