Guthrie and Atkinson boost squad numbers

After coming through Tuesday night’s Cheshire Senior Cup tie against Macclesfield Town, defender Jon Guthrie and midfielder Chris Atkinson are fit and available for the visit of Swindon Town this weekend.

Both players completed the 90 minutes of our 2-1 defeat at Moss Rose and could be in contention for the first team squad. Ryan Colclough played 65 minutes on Tuesday evening but won’t be under consideration following his lengthy lay-off.

Striker Lauri Dalla Valle (hip) has returned to light training but this weekend’s home game against Swindon may have come too soon for the Finn.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Jon and Chris came through the 90 minutes at Macclesfield and that was pleasing to have some of our injured players back. They were fatiguing towards the end of the game but they got through it.

“They are both fit, if not fully match fit.

“Lauri is not quite there. He did some training with Rob (Sharp) yesterday and he is still feeling it slightly. He just had a lot of bruising around his hip but we are confident he will be able to return to full training sometime next week.”
