Crewe Alexandra’s captain Ashley Westwood has told the club’s official web-site that a trip to Upton Park to test their ability against Premier League quality is the perfect draw as far as he is concerned. Westwood is in the form of his young career and was named as the club’s captain this summer following the departure of Dave Artell to Port Vale and then quickly Northampton.
Westwood says he cannot wait to play on the Upton Park stage tomorrow night. Westy said: “I don’t think you could have wished for a better draw at this stage than West Ham away.
“We have a chance to play at a Premiership ground against Premier League players. They are one of the biggest clubs to go in at this round. It is a great ground, with a great atmosphere and there is no pressure on us.
“Hopefully, we can go there and do the business on the night. Everyone is up for it and there is a buzz about the place.
“Our main aim is the league but this is a very nice distraction and a reward for what we achieved against Hartlepool.”
