Boss says that having our fate in our own hands is all we could ask for going into final game

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is pleased that our destiny rests in our own hands when the 2014/15 season comes to an exciting climax on Sunday. Crewe host Bradford City at Gresty Road needing three points to make absolute certain of survival but that will be reduced to a point if Colchester fail to beat Swindon this evening.

The Railwaymen’s 3-1 win at Coventry was crucial to keeping us in control of proceedings and now Davis says it is imperative that we keep ‘our own house in order’ this weekend before worrying about anyone else.

Ahead of this weekend’s home fixture, Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We will prepare for the final game as we normally do. We will be mentally and physically ready for the 90 plus minutes.

“It is important that we look ourselves, perform well and make sure our own house in order. We can only control what we do and we get what we need so that we will be safe. At this stage of the season, the bottom teams are always keeping one eye on other results. Some will be relying on others but we are in control of our own destiny and the players have worked hard for that.

“On Saturday, some wins went for us and others went against us. I am sure there will be a few twists and turns yet but hopefully we will look after ourselves and not be involved in it.

“It will be difficult because we are up against a tough opponent but we know what we have to do and that is all you can ask for going into this final game.

He added: “We won’t be approaching it with caution, thinking about a point being enough. We will try and get on the front foot, force the game if we can and try and open them up.”
