Crewe boss knows experienced Micky will make Vale tough nut to crack

Steve Davis knows that Port Vale will be a difficult side to expose this weekend under their experienced manager Micky Adams. The Valiants have enjoyed a consistent first season back in League One and their hopes of a play-off place are still there if they can continue in the same vein of form for the remaining nine weeks of the season.

Adams will be looking for his side to complete a league double over Crewe after they recorded a 2-1 win back in November and keep their hopes of a top six finish alive.

Steve Davis, who has been to watch our opponents on a number of occasions this season to watch his own son Joe Davis, knows it will be a tough encounter at Vale Park this weekend.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Micky always sets up a well drilled side and they are difficult to break down. They work hard for each and Micky demands that from all his players. He is right too because that should be the minimum you should expect from your players.

“If they don’t put a shift in regardless of it being a derby game or not then they shouldn’t be playing.

“They work hard and have a great determination to get a result. They all have to pull their weight for the team and do their jobs or Micky won’t pick them.

“That work ethic, organisation and desire to fight for everything is in Micky’s DNA’s and that rubs off on his players. We know we are going to be in for a battle and first and foremost will have to match that work ethic. “
