Davis: "More To Follow"

7 July 2015

Steve Davis has three more at least on his radar as his summer rebuild really starts.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has revealed that the signings of midfielders Billy Bingham and Adam King will not be the end of his investment in the middle of the park or elsewhere in his team. The Alex boss is after one more to offer competition and cover to his two new captures and the already in place James Jones and Chris Atkinson. With three possible places up for grabs, a straight fight between five will be intriguing as the season progresses.

Steve told crewealex.net: “We have more on our radar and we are still looking at the midfield department. I would like to bring in another one if we can. That would give us five players battling it out for three spots, if we choose to play 4-3-3 or even with three at the back.

“We are after that quality and those players that will improve the team. If that means waiting then we will because all I'm interested in is getting good players into this football club. I think if we can increase the competition then it will only make us better because players will never thin they are automatic picks, especially if they have a bad game. It should strive them on and you can see the impact the two new boys have made the group already.

“I will try to get the best in we can and I would like to strengthen in other departments as well. We certainly need a left back and a goalkeeper to challenge Ben (Garratt) and I would like to bring in that other midfield player.

Steve added: “Once we have done that we will reassess the budget and see if we need to fill in other areas. I know the budget and what I have to work towards here at Crewe. That’s the job and I will continue to try and bring in the best we can at the prices we can afford.”
