Davis: "Lowry's Record Won't Be Broken"

Steve Davis believes legend Lowry's appearance record will stand forever

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis believes that Tommy Lowry’s appearance record at the club will never be broken. The Football Club will be remembering the life and career of our former right-back ahead of tomorrow’s home game with a one-minute of applause.

Lowry made an incredible 481 appearances for the Railwaymen after signing from his beloved Liverpool in 1966. It is a record that looks set to stand the test of time.

Steve told crewealex.net: “The older generation of supporters remember Tommy and that period he played in. Those fans will remember him and the new fans will respect what he did for the Football Club.

“I don’t think his appearance record will be broken, as it is very rare in the modern era for a player to remain at one club for such a long period of time. That loyalty is rare in modern times.

“The people of Crewe respect Tommy and the service he gave the club over more than ten years.

“He is held in high esteem and is one of the club’s greats. A true legend and he thoroughly deserves to be remembered tomorrow with the minute’s applause. “
