Steve Davis hoping to conclude summer transfer business over the next 48 hours.

Steve Davis is hopeful of concluding his summer transfer business with the capture of a new loanee left-back within the next 48 hours.

Davis has been chasing a new left full-back ever since Greg Leigh rejected our offer of a permanent contract and he has compiled a list of alternatives.

Steve has admitted that he is currently waiting on news about a possible left-back from a Championship club.

Steve revealed to crewealex.net: “We are waiting on a left-back and we hope to conclude that over the next couple of days.

“We are hoping to get him here sooner rather than later so he can do some work with the defensive unit. He has been involved in his own club’s pre-season, so it is not as if he is coming without having done the work.

“We have had a few targets. Some we have missed out on like Greg Leigh earlier in the pre-season, but that is the game you have to play. Sometimes you wait for one and miss out on another one.

He added: “The player we are after is one I’ve gone to watch last season and he has playing experience. He would know what to expect.”
