Davis delighted after fantastic win over Sky Blues

"Apart from maybe 5 or 10 minutes at the start of the second half, he and AJ were a threat and looking dangerous and that is what we want from them. I have a go at them when the ball bounces off them a bit sometimes and we don't keep it but I thought they did well as a partnership, as did all the players. They all played their part."

"Max was working his socks off. winning flick on's up against their centre-halves and putting them off when they jumped. He deserved his goal and it was a well created goal.

"We were much better up against their diamond system and pushed our full-backs on and created opportunities. All the way through the game I didn't think we were going to lose the game and that is a good feeling to have as a manager. The new Crewe when we go 1-0 up, I expect us to win the game.

"It was a good performance and a great result for us. We didn't do well enough at Brentford and got what we deserved. Today we got what we deserved and I was pleased with them all.

After a fantastic 1-0 win, Steve Davis told the club's official web-site: "It was a fantastic result and they worked hard for that. I thought we played really well, especially in the first half and were solid and united when we needed to be. I thought we defended well today and that was everyone.

Steve Davis was a delighted man as his Crewe Alexandra side put a heavy defeat at Brentford behind them with a hard fought 1-0 win over Coventry City. Max Clayton scored the only goal of the game after 23 minutes to seal all three points for the Railwaymen.
