Davis An Admirer Of Karl's Dons

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis appreciates that an MK Dons side at their own stadium will prove a different proposition to Yeovil Town, but he is hoping that his hard working side can continue to build on two positive results that have come against neighbours Port Vale and the Glovers.

The Alex boss is a keen admirer of the way Karl Robinson likes his teams to play and he expects another high class game of football at Stadium:mk tomorrow afternoon.

Ahead of our trip to Milton Keynes, Steve told crewealex.net: “We had a marathon trip down to Yeovil and we didn’t really know what to expect from the players when we got down there, but the response of the players was impressive.

“They gave us everything they had at Yeovil. They worked hard and were out on their feet in the last ten minutes or so because of the trip down and the game coming on the back of the derby game against Port Vale.

“They have had a rest and will be ready for the MK Dons game. It will be a really difficult game at their ground because they are a good team and Karl (Robinson) has gone out and strengthened his squad again this summer.

“They have started the season well, although they lost to Bradford in the week. Karl likes his teams to play the right way; they keep the ball well and look to play through you. They are patient in possession and look for those little openings.

“What we have to do is work hard, restrict their space in behind us and look to threaten them when we have the ball in the final third.

“We have had two good results and you could see the confidence the three points against Port Vale brought to the group. We didn’t play particularly well on Tuesday night, it was a scrappy game at times with neither side passing the ball as well as they would like.

He added: “It was a night for graft and our lads put in a shift and ground out a good result. That was a real positive to take from the performance.”
