Dario: "Kids Will Continue To Come Through"

5 May 2016

Club's Technical Director says youngsters will continue to interest bigger clubs.

Dario Gradi says that Crewe Alexandra will continue to produce young players good enough to make the step up to Premier League and Championship football. The club’s Technical Director firmly believes that our latest promising youngsters Charlie Kirk and Callum Ainley have the technique and potential to follow the likes of Ashley Westwood and Nick Powell up the football pyramid.

Gradi, who has helped develop the likes of Danny Murphy, Dean Ashton and Rob Jones in the past, says that as long as we produce technically gifted youngsters there will be a market for our players.

Dario said at the recent fans forum: “The Academy is still producing young players. They will be good enough to play in the team and some of them should go on for money. We produce talented footballers, who are very good technically and that helps them make the step up because they are equipped.

“The two lads that have gone in on a regular basis under Steve (Davis) after very good technically. They are bound to attract interest and they should go for money in the future. You can never predict the market but they are two who could go on.

“We have got good kids all the way through. The two we have signed on pro deals recently, Harry Pickering and Owen Dale have a great chance and there are talented boys coming through the age groups.

“There first objective will be to get in the team and establish themselves before we will even consider selling them.”
