Dalla Valle To See Consultant

LDV to undergo a scan today to assess the extent of his ankle injury.

Lauri Dalla Valle will undergo a scan later today to assess the extent of the damage to his ankle. The Finn was forced off for the club’s Under-21s in a 2-0 win at Leeds yesterday and manager Steve Davis expects the former Liverpool and Fulham forward to be out for a considerable amount of time.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Lauri will go for another scan today and will meet with a consultant. We don’t know the full extent of his ankle injury yet but it appears a bad one. We are pretty sure there has not been a fracture but a ligament injury can be just as bad and can take longer than a clean break.

“Either way both injuries are not pleasant and we will have to see what the experts say. It is a blow for him and a blow for us. He was just getting back from his neck injury and he has not had much luck with injuries this season. It has been one thing after the other with him a bit, with his back, his neck, hamstring and now his ankle.

“It was a poor tackle from behind and it could have been handled better by the referee. It was obvious he was in a lot of pain, so we were disappointed with that.

“It is unfortunate but it is football and injures happen. We have had more than our fair share this season though and they have all been impact injuries that have occurred in the matches or in training.

He added: “Our injury prevention work is very good, one of the best and we don’t lose a lot of players because of muscle pulls.”
