Crewe Have Injury Doubts Over Four

9 November 2012

Mellor and West out while Moore and Osman remain doubtful

Full-back Kelvin Mellor has been ruled out of tomorrow’s home game with Colchester United after picking up a knee injury at Doncaster on Tuesday night. Mellor has suffered severe bruising on his knee and has been unable to train this week.

Crewe Alexandra’s experienced defender Gregor Robertson looks set for a recall in the back four.  Winger Michael West is also out with a calf strain after aggravating it in the club’s fine 2-0 win at the Keepmoat Stadium. The Railwaymen are already without forwards Max Clayton (groin), Ryan Colclough (jaw) and AJ Leitch-Smith (ankle).

Steve Davis is hopeful that Bryon Moore and Abdul Osman will shake off knows to make themselves available for the visit of Joe Dunne’s U’s this weekend. Both players are set to train this morning with a view to proving their fitness.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We do have a doubt over a few of our players. Kelvin has a swollen knee and hasn’t trained and Westy has a calf strain. I am just hoping that this latest injury won’t keep him out for long because his career here has been a bit stop/start.

“Bryon and Abdul will come out with us this morning and give it a try. I am hopeful that those two will be fine.

“On the plus side, Max is back training with us. He has been out over the last couple of days but it is too early for him. I don’t want him to train, play and breakdown and be in the treatment room again. I want to sure with him.

“Ryan has a chance of training with us on Monday, so that is a boost for us.”
