Crewe Complete Ness Loan Signing

14 August 2014

Crewe welcome Stoke City midfielder Jamie Ness

Crewe Alexandra is delighted to announce the loan signing of Stoke City midfielder Jamie Ness. The 23-year-old has signed until 5th January and quickly follows the arrival of the Manchester City defender Greg Leigh, who signed a similar loan deal on Tuesday.

The Irvine-born Ness has been handed the number 28 shirt and will be in contention for his Crewe debut against Barnsley this weekend.

Ness began his career with Glasgow Rangers. He made 18 first team appearances for the Scottish giants, scoring two goals. One of those strikes came in spectacular fashion in a Glasgow derby against Celtic in February 2011. He also scored in an emphatic 5-0 win over Dundee United in May 2012.

Ness joined Stoke City on a four-year deal in July 2012 and made his competitive debut a year later in a League Cup tie against Swindon Town. With his first-team chances becoming limited with the Potters, he gained first-team football on loan at Leyton Orient last season.

The central midfielder originally signed for one month in January, but after an impressive run of form that was extended until the end of the season.

The Scotland Under-21 International scored once in 14 appearances for Leyton Orient as they reached the League One Play-Offs. Ness featured in Orient’s 2-1 win at Gresty Road in January 2014, playing an hour before being replaced by Romain Vincelot.
