Steve says system could alter again for Swindon trip

Steve Davis says he may adjust his formation again to try and gain an advantage at the County Ground this evening. The Crewe Alexandra boss and his assistant Neil Baker have tried various different formations and tactics to gain an upper hand in League One last and Davis has hinted at changing from the 3-5-2 line-up that started against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Ahead of the trip to Wiltshire, Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “I don’t like to give too much away. I may stick with what we did on Saturday or I may change it again.

“We haven’t got players of the calibre or experience of the clubs with the bigger budgets, so we have to try and gain an advantage by changing things and catching teams by surprise.

“The players have shown that they can play in different systems and they have to adapt. They have done very well with that and have been hard to beat playing three at the back.

“We have won four out of six playing that way and have taken the lead in the other two games against Tranmere and then again against Doncaster. We let those leads slip away but we have done well with that system this season.”
