Teenager looking to build on positive first season

Promising youngster Ryan Colclough admits that he surprised himself last season, when breaking into the first team fold and making 21 appearances. Colclough was certainly a useful asset to come off the bench and his progress saw him make a cameo display at Wembley Stadium in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final win over Southend United.

Now having had a taste of first team football, the 18-year-old is now focussed on becoming a main stay in Steve Davis’ starting eleven.

Ryan told Crewe Alex Player: “I was a bit surprised by the amount of appearances I was able to make in the first team. I have been quite happy with my form and now I want to carry on improving.

“Now I would like to start more games and be involved in even more games. That is the aim, I want to get in the team and help the team by scoring and making goals.

“Every player wants to be in the main starting 11 and I am the same. That is what I am aiming for, to become a main part of the team and this summer is a clean slate for everyone and a chance to impress the manager again.”
