Club hopeful that winger could be back this weekend

Creative forward Ryan Colclough could be set to return at Oldham this weekend if he gets through a fitness test tomorrow. It is protocol of the club that an injured player has to pass a fitness test before returning to full training and Colclough will undertake his tomorrow in the hope of participating in training again on Thursday.

The youngster has been struggling of late with a hip injury, after landing awkwardly against Accrington Stanley in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. An untimely chest infection also set him back in his rehabilitation, but after overcoming his illness, the Stoke-born winger is now focussed on returning to full fitness.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “I am sure that Ryan will be back involved with us this week. He has been struggling with his hip and he had a bit of a chest infection. He is over that now and has been running on the treadmill.

“He wants to join in but we have a rule where he has to pass a fitness test before he can resume full training. He will do that on Wednesday and if he comes through that then he will be back with us. If it fitness levels are okay and he is free from his hip injury then he would come under consideration for the weekend.”
