Coco To Feature For Under-21s

Ryan Colclough handed game time against Nottingham Forest

Saturday’s match winner Ryan Colclough will feature for the club’s Development squad away at Nottingham Forest this afternoon. Colclough scored a stunning last minute winner to seal a superb 2-1 win at Sheffield United, but boss Steve Davis believes that the 20 year-old is still in need of game time after being out of the game for over a year.

Steve was not happy with Colclough’s time keeping on Monday and as he was late on arrival, he wasn’t allowed to train with the first-team as part of disciplinary action. He instead did his core and pelvis work in the club’s gym.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Ryan has been fine and everyone was delighted that he came back into the squad at the weekend and was able to produce a moment like that for the team and for himself.

He was late coming in so he didn’t train with us. He did his work in the gym instead and did the pelvis exercises that he needs to do to keep that area strong. It is something that he will have to do throughout his career. “His dad and members of his family were at the game so I am sure they really enjoyed the moment and it was relief and a joy after he had been out for so long. He produced something out of nothing but he didn’t start the week too well.

He added: “He will play against Forest today because he needs the game time. He needs the games, playing 20 minutes here and there won’t get him fit enough to start games and he understands that. He is still very much in contention for the game on Friday.”
