Club Hoping Tootle Will Play Some Part

Tootle set to have supportive boot removed to step up his rehab

Crewe Alexandra are hopeful that club captain Matt Tootle will return to play some part in the final couple of months of the season. Last season’s Player-of-the-Season has not featured since late October after suffering a couple of ankle ligament injuries.

Having suffered a re-occurrence in training, Tootle has been immobilised in a supportive boot for the past couple of weeks. The reliable right-back is hoping to have the boot removed in the next few days and resume his rehabilitation.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Matt revisited the specialist and he felt it was necessary to keep the boot on a bit longer. He is just waiting for it to settle down and he can only get that through extended rest and taking the weight off the ankle.

The boss added: “He has been into the club and it won’t be too long before he can resume his rehab. Once it is off and the ligaments are stronger then we will step up his rehabilitation.”
