Club Hopeful On Max

Boss hoping to have Max Clayton available before season ends

Steve Davis has praised the work ethic of his young centre-forward Max Clayton in his quest to get back to full fitness ahead of schedule.

The club have not given up hope on Clayton returning before the end of the season. Clayton broke his ankle against Wycombe Wanderers in the club’s FA Cup exit but his determination to get back and help his local club escape the drop.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “Fair play to Max, he wants to get back and he is doing everything he can to get back quickly, but he won't come back until he is ready.

“It is about attitude. I have been there myself and I know the dark days you have. Max is a young lad and there is no reason he won’t come back fitter and stronger. He wants to be in better physical shape and I think he will do.

“He is one of ours and we'll do everything we can to get him back. He has got a long way to go and it depends if he has had set-backs, but if it is smooth there's a good chance he will be back before the end of the season.”
