Clayton Unscathed After 21s Run Out

24 April 2014

Max Clayton hoping he will get the chance to be involved in vital clash in Bristol

Max Clayton completed almost 70 minutes of the club’s Under-21 play-off against Cardiff City on Wednesday evening and the young forward will now be hoping that he is involved against Bristol City this weekend.

Clayton made a successful return from his fractured ankle to help the club to a 4-0 win over the Bluebirds and now the England Youth International will be hoping to travel to the West Country for the club’s final away game of the season.

Clayton has not featured for the first team since breaking his ankle in an FA Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers back in November.

Manager Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “Max played over an hour and he has come through that okay. He has been in today to undertake a light session and I will sit down with the staff and discuss his performance.

“When you win 4-0 away from home then you can be assured that everyone played reasonably well. We will discuss everyone’s performance before I decide on the final 18 that will travel to Bristol.

“I will pick the best squad available and I will assess who is available from the bench if we need a goal or need to keep one out. That all comes into it and I will pick the clientele accordingly.

“Max has missed a lot of football and we will have to see how he is because twisting and turning at pace and using muscles you have not used for a while can take their toll.”
