Davis looking forward to competitive affair at the Deva

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis expects a competitive and attractive game against our North West neighbours Chester this weekend. Crewe visit the Deva Stadium for the first time since September 2007 when Crewe progressed in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy via a penalty shoot-out.

After a few years of financial hardship and demotion into non-league, Chester are now advancing on a upward curve and are looking forward to a challenge in the Conference this coming season.

Steve told crewealex.net: “It should be a really competitive game at Chester and one we are looking forward to. I saw a lot of them last season when Brendan (Daniels) was on loan with them and they are decent side.

“They have had a very difficult five or so years but with the help of the Supporters Trust they are on the way back. Their aim will be to get back into the league. Another promotion would be difficult but not impossible.

“They are building a new team and fair play to them. It will be a nice surface, a decent crowd and we haven’t been there for a while.”
