Brad To Be In Squad

On-loan Newcastle midfielder to join up his new team-mates today

Crewe Alexandra’s new loan signing Brad Inman is set to meet the management and players later today after joining on a one-month loan from Newcastle. The attacking midfielder is set to be included in the squad to face Crawley Town at Gresty Road tomorrow but will have for his chance to start.

Boss Steve Davis moved quickly to sign Inman on deadline day yesterday as extra cover and competition for Luke Murphy and Abdul Osman. Davis assessed his options yesterday and felt that he couldn’t risk going into the New Year without an extra body in central midfielder.

Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “To be honest I was happy with my squad and didn’t expect us to do anything yesterday, but when we sat down and assessed the squad we felt that we needed another one. We wanted that extra cover and competition in central midfield.

“Brad is an attacking midfielder who can score goals and that gives us a nice option. He can also play off the front and he was the best one available to us. We have watched some of the DVDs and we know about him from his involvement with the Under-21s.

“He isn’t a kid. He is 20 and been at Newcastle for a while now. He has been on their bench and played for Scotland at Under-19 and Under-21 level, so he comes with some pedigree. He is here for a month and we made it clear to Newcastle that he will have to play his way into the team.

“We are hoping that he can become an important member of our squad and he is similar to Lauri (Dalla Valle) that he is highly rated by his club. It is just at this stage of his career, that he is eager to come out and play some competitive matches.”
