Boss Ponders Changes

18 September 2015

Steve Davis says he has considered all options as he looks for winning formula at Shrewsbury.

Steve Davis says he has considered changing his system and personnel for tomorrow’s trip to Shrewsbury Town but he is keeping his selection close to his chest. With Shrews boss Micky Mellon favouring a 3-5-2 formation Davis and his coaching staff have thought making adjustments to his own tactics and starting XI.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to the Greenhous Stadium, Steve told crewealex.net: “Shrewsbury have been successful with a 3-5-2 formation. They were very consistent in League Two with that system last season and they have made a reasonable start to life in League One as well. They have had some good results and have ground out some results as well.

“It is what we do and that is what we will focus on. We have considered all the options and we always look at ways to exploit the opposition and look for those gaps. We will be positive and we have been that way all season.

“We have thought about changing one or two things and players have come into our thinking. George Cooper scored twice on Monday, as did Ryan Wintle and Marcus (Haber) scored a goal as well for the Under-21s, so that will help their confidence and they didn’t do their chances any harm.

“What we need them to do doing is that day in day out and not a one off performance. All of our players need to find that level of consistency.

He added: “It is about us being confident and play the way we want to play.”
