Boss Pleased With Coco's Progress

24 March 2015

Steve Davis pleased with Colclough completing another 90 minutes for the Under-21s

Steve Davis was relatively pleased with the performances of a number of the club’s Under-21 side last night. Uche Ikpeazu was on target in the first half as Crewe were beaten 3-2 at Gresty Road by Queens Park Rangers.

Crewe’s other goal came via a fit-again Ryan Colclough via the penalty spot and the Stoke-on-Trent forward certainly impressed in a free role. Colclough was arguably Crewe’s best performer on the night and the Alex boss says he has done himself no harm in his quest to return to the first-team squad.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It was good for a number of the fringe players to play. It was important for some of them to play games. Uche needed game time, so did Brad and George Cooper.

“We wanted to see if Ryan could get through another 90 minutes and he completed that. He played well and that is good for him and good for him.

He added: “Ryan is well on the road to being closer to the first team squad. We will assess him this week before we decide whether he travels to Sheffield with us. He is in today for a recovery day and we will speak to him today to see how he is.”
