Boss Hints Towards Changes

22 February 2013

Steve may look to freshen things up for latest meeting with the Sky Blues

Steve Davis is considering freshening up his starting XI for tomorrow’s trip to Coventry City. The Alex boss has suggested that with a lot of games gone and a number coming up in a short space of time, he may elect to change things for our latest meeting with the Sky Blues.

Matt Tootle, who has missed the club’s last two outings due to a foot injury is training again, but this particular fixture may have come around too quickly for him. More realistically, the mid-week trip to Hartlepool United is more likely.

Jon Guthrie (groin) is definitely out of the trip to the Ricoh Arena. Others such as Byron Moore, Max Clayton, Harry Davis and winger Ryan Colclough are also under consideration for a recall.

Steve told crewealex.net: “I may look to freshen things up for this weekend. We have players available and we can change the system if needs be.

“I like to have players who can adapt to a new system and the players have been able to do that when needed. We have played 4-3-3 at times and been successful. Had one playing off the main striker and won four games out of five after playing three at the back, when we first tried it at Preston and won.

Steve added: “The players can change and are fine with it so it is something to consider.”
