Barber Working With Keepers

13 January 2015

Vastly experienced Fred Barber helping young Garratt

The former Bolton Wanderers, Walsall and Peterborough United goalkeeper Fred Barber is assisting the club in a coaching capacity. With Scott Shearer recently allowed to join Burton Albion on loan until the end of the season, Barber, 51, has been taking goalkeeping session with Ben Garratt and the younger goalkeepers at the club.

Barber, who amassed over 400 League appearances during his career, has previously worked at his former club Bolton as goalkeeping coach and has also worked with the likes of West Bromwich Albion and the Northern Ireland national team.

Steve Davis confirmed to the club’s official web-site: “Fred has a wealth of experience and became available and we were more than pleased to invite him to work with Ben and the young goalkeepers.

“Fred is keen and enthusiastic around the place and if we could have him with us until the end of the season then that would be fantastic.”
