“The teams that are coming up have spent some money to do that and I expect Wigan will be strong next season after coming down from the Championship. It is difficult to say what is happening at Blackpool at the moment.

“Swindon lost in the play-off final against Preston and I thought they were as good as anyone in this league last season.

“It is a challenge every year and the fans realise that. It is a good challenge to have and that is why we were determined to stay in the league. That was a real sense of achievement in that after the start we made.

“We have been at this level for three years now and look forward to a fourth. We want to do better and everyone at the club is doing the best they can to make it a better season.”
