Baker: "Producing Our Own Is Vital"

28 May 2015

Neil Baker says club will not move away from Academy production philosophy.

Crewe Alexandra’s assistant manager Neil Baker says that it is important that ‘we never lose sight of what this club is about.’ Baker believes it is critical for that future that we continue to produce our own young talent and promote them into the first-team.

Baker says that the club will continue to stick to their principles and philosophy of giving our up-and-coming young players an opportunity in League One.

Baker told crewealex.net: “We must never lose sight of what this club is about. It’s about producing players to play in the team then move on, that’s how our club survives.

“It’s not because of the budget, it’s what we want to do. We want to play good football and maybe over the last couple of years it hasn’t been as good as we would have liked.

“A bigger core of the team next year with hopefully be our own players, supplemented by two or three good players.

“Our philosophy remains to play as many as our own players as we can. If we can supplement that with the areas we have targeted I’m confident we can have a better season.”
