Back-To-Back Wins Was Vital

30 November 2015

Collins delighted that we followed up Colchester win with three more points at home.

Crewe Alexandra’s first team coach James Collins was pleased that the Railwaymen managed to build on the comeback at Colchester United with another three points against fellow strugglers Oldham Athletic at the weekend. The Alex recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season thanks to Adam King’s fifth goal of the season.

The result took Crewe off the bottom for the first time in a couple of months and Collins says that after a week’s rest, the players will be looking forward to testing themselves again away at Doncaster.

Collins told crewealex.net: “It was important to follow up what we achieved at Colchester with another win. If we lost against Oldham then it would have been a long two weeks to stew it over.

“It was important to get a result, especially at home and in front of our own supporters. The players will be chomping at the bit for the next game. No-one here things we have cracked it. It will be more hard work.

“We felt that we were not that far off but we didn’t have the results to show for it. Getting back-to-back wins, especially against the sides down there with us is a terrific boost. We have to keep going and aim to push up the table as much as we can.”
