Audel: "Hopefully I Will Get More Chances"

18 September 2014

Recalled out of the blue for his first start in almost a year, Thierry Audel talks to Player

Ultra professional Thierry Audel was handed his first start for Crewe Alexandra in almost a year at Huish Park on Tuesday evening and he certainly didn’t let anybody down as the Railwaymen picked up a deserved point against Gary Johnson’s side.

Audel’s last start came in a 3-0 home defeat by Gillingham in September 2013 and following a brief substitute appearance against Port Vale a month later, he was loaned out to Lincoln City for the remainder of the season. Audel performed admirably for the Imps scoring 3 goals in 14 games before returning to Crewe for pre-season.

The former Macclesfield defender was involved in the pre-season games and after making a substitute appearance against Rochdale in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the likeable Frenchman was given his start at Yeovil after performing consistency well in training and for the club’s Under-21s.

Thierry told Crewealex Player: “As a professional I always prepare if I am playing. You have to be ready when the manager calls you and although I was a bit surprised to start at Yeovil, I was also very happy.

“I was happy that I helped the team get a point. We worked hard as a team and I did my best. I will keep working hard and hopefully the manager will give me some other chances as well.

“It was a good result on Tuesday night to follow on from the Pot Vale result and I think we are beginning to build good things.”
