Aneke On His Crewe Return

5 August 2013

Chuks feels he can reach his potential with regular football

Chuks Aneke says the welcome he receives from everyone associated with Crewe Alexandra and his desire to play competitive football on a regular basis was the reasoning behind his decision to re-sign on loan from Arsenal. Aneke, 20, re-signed on Friday, in time to be included in the squad against Rotherham United and made a cameo appearance during the 3-3 draw at Gresty Road.

Aneke will know be hoping to be involved against Bury in the first round of the Capital One Cup tomorrow night: “It is really good to be back and when I knew that Steve (Davis) and Crewe were interested in getting me back, then I was very interested as well.

“I really enjoyed it last year. It was a great experience and it was my first real year in football really. To play at Wembley and win a trophy is something I will always remember. I just want to come back and carry on from where I left out.

“There will be no resting on my laurels. I want to get better and improve and I felt I was doing that by playing regular football. I just enjoyed the whole experience and everyone in Crewe makes me welcome. The reception I got on Saturday was unbelievable really and I can only thank the fans for that.”
