Alex To Prepare Slightly Differently

Crewe to train in the south later today after nightmare journeys

Crewe Alexandra will travel south this morning and will train in nearby Luton. The Alex are trying to avoid being stuck on the motorway system and are trying a different approach after a nightmare trip to Kent to play Gillingham back in late August and then another to Sussex to play Crawley.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says it is important to try a different approach to the preparation and has organised our final training session in the south of the country.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We are doing things a bit differently to try and avoid getting stuck on the motorways. We are setting off earlier and will train at Luton.

“In the past this season it has taken us six and seven hours to get down there on a Friday and we are hoping to avoid that. We have prepared for Leyton Orient yesterday and will do some more once we get down there.

“We have managed to get a base near to our hotel and I’m sure this will be better for us. At the top level they stay in a hotel when they are both at home or away and whilst the lower league clubs cannot afford to do that, we do prepare right.

Steve: “We don’t have too many overnight stays this season because we are quite lucky with where Crewe is located in the country. Some teams have long trips whether they go so we can’t complain too much.”
