Alex To Assess Duggy and Brandy

22 September 2014

New loan signing Febian Brandy hopeful of shaking off tight calf muscle

Crewe Alexandra will have to assess the health of Adam Dugdale this week after the experienced defender missed the week defeat at MK Dons due to illness. Dugdale decided to travel to Milton Keynes but was quickly ruled out when his condition didn’t improve at all. Thierry Audel retained his place at centre-half alongside George Ray.

Dugdale is hoping that he can shake off a bout of flu and a chest infection to declare himself fit and available for the weekend visit of Colchester United.

The Alex boss will also be hoping that new loan signing Febian Brandy will be fit enough to be in contention for the visit of the U’s after he complained of a tight calf after making his debut for the club as a second half substitute at the MK Dons. Brandy showed moments of his ability and had a fine free-kick tipped over by David Martin. The on-loan Rotherham winger also created a chance for Audel during our heavy defeat at stadium:mk

Steve told crewealex.net: “Duggy (Adam Dugdale) was ruled out with illness and he wasn’t well enough to play, so we will have to assess how he is feeling this week. We have had a bit of a virus around the place over the last couple of weeks.

“Febian did bring a bit of life to the game on Saturday but getting into those little pockets of space. He showed us some glimpses of his ability and it will be good to have a full week to work with him.

“He was complaining of having tight calves and that restricted him. He didn’t look like he could explode and use his pace.

Steve added: “With the game slipping away from us I decided to give George (Cooper) some experience as well.”
