Alex Physio Nick Oakley Awarded

24 May 2016

Congratulations to Crewe physio Nick Oakley.

Crewe Alexandra’s Physiotherapist and Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine, Nick Oakley, was recently the proud recipient of an award at the annual Football Medical Association Conference.

Nick was awarded for his ‘Exceptional Service To Professional Football’ at the Radisson Hotel, East Midlands Airport last weekend.

After receiving the award, Nick said: “I was shocked when my name was read out as we have not had the best of seasons collectively as a club, but was really nice to be acknowledged in front of my peers at such a big conference.

“I do put a lot of effort into my work but it’s much easier when you enjoy it and work with great people.

“I know there are many people who consistently work above and beyond, not just myself, and make great sacrifices for the benefit of the club and progressing their careers; we actually have a great team of staff at Crewe Alexandra from the first team through to the Academy, so although I really do appreciate achieving such an award, I feel it’s an important testament that we all do behind the scenes at Crewe.”

The club’s Academy Operations Manager David Artell said: “Nick works tirelessly to help the Academy produce numerous players for the first team and his role in that process shouldn't be underestimated.

“He's a worthy winner of such a prestigious award and you'll be hard pressed to find someone who epitomises what Crewe Alexandra FC is all about. “

The end of season event also includes awards for the Medical Team of the year for each division, and the ’21 club’ for 21 years’ service to professional football.

Everyone at Crewe Alexandra would like to congratulate Nick on his award.
