Keeper departs club by mutual consent
Crewe Alexandra keeper Alan Martin has today left the club by mutual consent. The former Scotland Under-21 keeper moves onto pastures new after finding it difficult to hold down a regular place in Steve Davis’ side this season.
Martin initially arrived at the club in the summer of 2011 after a spell in his native Scotland with Ayr United. Martin spent the entire 2011/12 season on the Alex bench due to the impressive form of Steve Phillips but got his chance the following season.
With Phillips injured for the opening months of the 2012/13 season, Martin got his chance in the Alex side featuring on 32 occasions throughout the season. He started this season in the Alex team as well but the emergence of Ben Garratt saw him slip to the bench again.
In total Martin made 41 appearances for the club during his time in South Cheshire and the 25-year-old will now look for another challenge in his career. Everyone at the Football Club would like to wish Alan all the best with his future career.
