AJ Leitch-Smith making progress over ankle injury

After receiving the positive news that youngsters Max Clayton and Ryan Colclough have been able to resume full training from their injuries, comes the progress being made by striker AJ Leitch-Smith. The striker, who has hit four goals this season, has not featured for the club since picking up ankle ligament damage against Portsmouth last month.

Leitch-Smith has now started jogging on the ankle and hopefully is heading in the right direction. In the absence of his trio of attackers, Steve Davis moved to sign the Finnish striker Lauri Dalla Valle on loan from Fulham for a month. Dalla Valle has repaid that faith with two goals in two games.

Steve told the club’s official web-site:  “I have about 21 available at the moment if I include the two goalkeepers, so that is getting better. We haven’t had everyone available yet and that has been frustrating because we have seemed to get one back and then lose one.

“We only really have AJ out with his ankle and he is pushing on now. He is running again so that is a positive sign. Hopefully, he will be fit soon. We joke that whenever you ask AJ he replies with two-weeks but he is making positive progress. “
