A Set-Back For Max

2 November 2012

Clayton ruled out, but good news for Osman and Colclough

Crewe Alexandra have been handed an injury blow after a scan revealed that Max Clayton has suffered a slight tear in his groin. Clayton has been missing for the last two games and was due to return to training yesterday, only to suffer this set-back.

Boss Steve Davis expects to be without his young forward for at least the next two games, (Wycombe tomorrow and Doncaster on Tuesday), but Davis has been handed a boost after midfielder Abdul Osman came through training yesterday unscathed.

Elsewhere young winger Ryan Colclough has received good news in his recovery from a fractured jaw, and could return to training a week on Monday, but Ajay Leitch-Smith is still ruled with his ankle injury.

Boss Steve Davis told crewealex.net: “Max went for a scan on his groin and it revealed a slight tear. It has just pushed him back slightly, he might be back for the Colchester game next weekend, which is obviously not what we wanted.

“But Abdul trained with us yesterday, we will look at him again today and protect him because we don’t want him to get another whack on it. Hopefully he will come through unscathed.

“It is also good news for Ryan. The specialist is very pleased with how he is doing. We will introduce him in to training gradually and see how he goes. “
