A Result We Needed

8 October 2012

Defender Mark Ellis admits Saturday’s 2-1 win over Hartlepool came as a welcome relief on multiple levels. Not only did the game see the former Torquay man net his first goal in Crewe colours, but it also provided the Railwaymen with their first win since September 1st.

Ellis admits it was important to get back to winning ways, especially after last Tuesday’s disappointing to Oldham.

Mark told crewealex.net: “It was a result we needed. We needed to get our confidence back after a couple of defeats and hopefully that is what we have done.

“In this league you have to work hard for every result. Hartlepool came and gave us a really good test. We had to work very hard for the result and thankfully we got it.

“On a personal note I am delighted to get my first goal. We have had quite a few chances from set plays, and come close on several occasions but they just haven’t dropped in, so to get my first goal today is brilliant.

“Goals are a part of my game and I am a little disappointed that it has taken me this long to get off the mark. But it is about taking my chance when it comes and that is what I did against Hartlepool, hopefully more goals will come now.”
