A Blow To Lose Neil

5 December 2013

Steve hoping that we have not seen the last of Fulham keeper

In the wake of Neil Etheridge’s thigh strain, Steve Davis says his three goalkeepers have an opportunity to win their place back.

Etheridge is expected to be out for around a month, virtually signalling the end of his loan move from Fulham, but the Crewe manager says he would certainly consider bringing the Pilipino number one back on loan. The 23-year-old stopper is undergoing his treatment back in South London.

. In his absence, Steve Phillips, Alan Martin and Ben Garratt are now battling it out again for the number one position. All three have played at some point this season.stCrewe are hopeful that he could play again for us before his loan expires on January 1

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We are disappointed for Neil because he was playing well and enjoying his loan. He had played three games and I thought he was getting better in every game.

“If he is unable to play for us again then I hope we could do something when he is fully fit again. I would certainly look at bringing him back and seeing if he can carry on where he left off. He is a super lad and a good goalkeeper.”
