What the press made of the Glovers defeat

The Sentinel
Crewe Alexandra's unbeaten home league record came to an end with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Yeovil Town at Gresty Road.

Matty Dolan's 62nd minute free-kick from 25 yards found a way in to the corner in what proved to be the game's only goal.

Crewe failed to score for a seventh consecutive opening 45 minutes, but they will wonder how, having missed several good opportunities, as well as seeing Chris Dagnall strike the bar with a dipping effort just before the break. And the striker was unfortunate after the break to see his 79th minute header come back off the bar as a resolute Yeovil held on for the three points.

Dolan's strike was a rare attempt on goal for the visitors, but they continued their impressive recent run by making it five wins in their last seven League Two outings to move level on points with the Alex.

Defeat for Crewe meant a seventh game without a win and they have now won just four of their opening 14 league games so far this season.

Yeovil Town have moved up to 13th in Sky Bet League Two after a third successive 1-0 victory, this time at Crewe Alexandra.

Chris Dagnall hit the woodwork twice in a game which the home team had the majority of the chances, but did not take them as a Matty Dolan free-kick settled things on the day.

Twice goalkeeper Artur Krysiak was called into action in the early exchanges to deny Dagnall with a sharp reflex save and then Ryan Lowe twice as the visiting defence were getting beaten time and time again by long passes.

Crewe enjoyed the best of the first half, with young wingers George Cooper and Alex Kiwomya both standing out for their creativity, but despite Dagnall hitting the bar late on and some lapse Yeovil defending at times, it remained 0-0 at the break.

In the second half Krysiak was again called into action to rush out and deny Dagnall as the 'keeper increasingly looked like the best performer for the visitors.

Yet despite having probably been second best in the game up until this point the away side took the lead on 62 minutes when Dolan curled in a brilliant free-kick from 30 yards and although Ben Garratt got a hand to it he could not stop it nestling in the bottom corner.
