"We Know Teams Are Trying To Stop Us"

21 October 2016

Turton believes we have the creative players to find a solution to unlock defences.

Ollie Turton wants Crewe Alexandra to stop making things hard for ourselves by scoring the first goal for once. The Railwaymen have fallen behind in our last five games but have fought back four times to rescue a point. Only the heavy defeat suffered at Wycombe Wanderers saw us lose.

The Alex have shown real character in fighting back and we had to do it again away at Notts County last weekend when a misjudgement from the Alex right-back allowed Jonathan Forte to nip in to give the n home side the lead. Crewe responded superbly though and were level within a minute thanks to substitute Alex Kiwomya.

Turton told the club’s official web-site: “It would be good to get that first goal. It is always important to score the first goal and I think that if we had managed to do that at Luton and Notts County then we would have gone on to win the game.

“It is always massive to score the first goal and give yourself that platform. We also know that as defenders that if we can keep a clean sheet, then we have a very good chance with the players we have up front.

“We have seen that teams are setting up to stop us playing and they try to stop our creative players like George and Alex. They know they can hurt them but it is up to us to find a way around that.

“We need to be winning more games. We have drawn a fair few of them and we need to be getting three points more, especially at home.

He added: “I don’t think we need to chase it or force things. We just need to be more patient because we know that we have players here to can make chances and take them.”
