"We Have To Keep Looking For Solutions"

27 September 2016

Boss says Alex will have to cope with teams sitting back.

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that his team will have to learn how to break teams down after a stubborn Blackpool side managed to see out the game for a 1-1 draw at the weekend.

To their credit, the Railwaymen continued to press forward and finally got our rewards when veteran Ryan Lowe headed home George Cooper’s superb cross to equalise. Crewe had fallen behind early on due to Jon Guthrie’s headed own goal.

Blackpool restricted our genuine clear-cut chances - but Steve was delighted with the way we continued to put the pressure on the Seasiders.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “It was a tough game against Blackpool. They are well drilled and organised under Gary (Bowyer) and they were protecting their lead. They slowed the game down when they could and there wasn’t a lot of space on the pitch.

“They pressed well and made things difficult for us but we kept going and I think we deserved our goal. With a bit of luck we could have won the game.

“The message at half-time was to take some risks and take the game to them and we did that during the second half.”
