U23: Ipswich 1-1 Crewe

21 March 2017

Udoh nets leveller against experienced Tractor Boys

Daniel Udoh scored his second U23 equaliser in a week to earn Crewe a 1-1 at Ipswich, but it was a tale of missed chance for Alex Morris' side.

After netting in the 1-1 draw against Chalton last week, Udoh notched again in Suffolk, equalising Brett Pitman's first half effort.

Callum Ainley missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring, firing wide with the open goal at his mercy after coming in on the rebound when Udoh's initial shot was saved.

Callum Saunders then fired a free-kick over the bar before Alex keeper Andy Dawber produced the heroics to save Pittman's penalty kick.

But the striker wasn't to be denied for long, forcing home the opener moments later from the resulting corner.

Freddie Sears went close for the home side in the second period before Udoh struck just before the hour mark for Crewe, firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The Alex peppered the Ipswich goal thereafter, creating chance after chance without finding the net, with home goalkeeper Adam McDonnell producing a miraculous save to keep out Perry Ng.

It wasn't to be all three points for The Alex though as match-up ended in a score-draw.

Morris' side have five games left of the season, two away & three at home - all to be played at Gresty Road & are free entry to supporters - Check out the full fixture list here
